ISO 9001 Update

If you read commentary from QCS International on a regular basis and have a deep interest in quality management then you will know we are constantly horizon scanning developments in the world of ISO standards. Currently none pique our interest more than the revised ISO 9001 Quality Management standard.

As reported earlier the quality management system standard was long overdue for revision having last been updated in 2015. The new content, widely discussed, not only included the already published climate change amendments but is also likely to include further updates reflecting technology and AI.

Whilst there is not much new to report at this point and there’s plenty of online ISO bashing from the usual suspects if that’s your thing, the current status update is quite intriguing.

The technical committee working group finalised the second committee draft for ISO 9001, the consultation ballot set to close on 14th March 2025.

The next step will be a meeting of working group between 31st March and 4th April 2025 in Paris to address the comments received and begin preparation for the Draft International Standard. According to our sources tell us it is likely we will see a new standard in around 8-12 months from now. So perhaps ISO9001:2025 or more likely ISO9001:2026, whichever it is we will keep you posted. This includes providing updates in training and in preparing for certification body assessment.
